Session Description
This 120-minute session is for professionals interested in applying an anti-racism and anti-oppression lens to workplace investigations. In this interactive and practical session, participants will be guided through case studies, self-reflective activities, and knowledge assessment exercises.
Topics covered include:
- Exploring different ways, social identities intersect with visible/invisible power and privilege dynamics between the investigator, the parties and the clients;
- Examining broader social implications and work environment challenges; and
- Complex issues include racial profiling, anti-Black racism, and gender expression.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
- Gain a deeper understanding of the benefits, limitations, barriers, and risks faced by Black, Racialized and historically marginalized parties in workplace investigations;
- Integrate creative tools to imagine or reimagine ways to apply an anti-racism and anti-oppression lens to workplace investigations;
- Create opportunities to situate their lived experiences, share their professional knowledge; and
- Build or strengthen their anti-racism and anti-oppression lens.
